Game Preview: West Branch vs Maquoketa Valley
Renewal of an old district rivalry in Delhi

Location: Delhi
Date: September 25, 2020
Time: 7:00pm CDT
Game Notes
MAQ VALLEY can put up points and put up yards...in a hurry. When you have a QB (Parker Sternhagen) who is averaging just shy of 134 yards PER GAME on the ground, and nearly 100 yards passing, it makes sense. The left handed signal caller has a few options to pitch the ball to as well. Included is RB AJ Ambundo, who averages 13 yards per catch and has also rushed for 248 yards on the season. The Wildcats score 27 points per game, but are giving up 36 points on defense. Speaking of defense, freshman Aidan Salow plays a big role. As one of the leading TFL (Tackle For Loss) players on the team, you need to stay away from his side of the field.
KEEP AN EYE ON: Sternhagen. He is athletic. He is crafty. He will burn you when you think you have him bottled up.
WEST BRANCH football is back in the win column. A near complete performance from all areas helped propel the Bears to a 43-8 decisive road victory in Week 3. QB Gavin Hierseman passed for 254 yards and 4 TD, two each to Carver Boelk and Simon Palmer. On the ground, RB Andy Henson had his best game as a West Branch Bear. 166 yards rushing, including an 87 yard scoring dash to the north end zone. Defensively, Kaleb Sexton made his presence felt early and often. He collected 2.5 sacks and an interception. Cael Fiderlein connected on all three FG attempts. He now has 11 career FG, tying him with Beau Cornwell for a school record.
QUOTABLE: "This season was going to be interesting. We lose our homecoming game, but we wanted the kids to be able to play. (Activities Director) Jake Stenberg has done a wonderful job this season making sure it's special for the players." - West Branch Head Coach Butch Pedersen
