Date: October 11, 2019

Game Notes

NORTHEAST (Goose Lake) is a team hoping to rekindle a winning tradition. The Rebels have found success in years passed, and will soon reach that level again. Participation numbers are up to the mid-40s and excitement is high. Led by seniors: QB Riley Wolfe (730 yards, 7 TD), RB Dakota Stevenson (450 yards, 4TD), RB Jacob Mickelson, and WR Trey McAleer (230 yards, 32.9 yards per catch, 3TD). Sophomore Cade Hughes (team leading 23 rec, 329 yards and 80 yards passing) plays a significant role in the Rebel attack.

KEEP AN EYE ON: Stevenson: He will be a bell cow for the NE-GL rushing attack. Also, Hughes on both offense and defense.

WEST BRANCH's offense continues to do great things in district play. But, perhaps, the accomplishments of Tanner Lukavsky and Dalyn Pedersen on defense in Week 6 overshadowed the O. From his OLB position, Lukavsky recorded his state leading 3rd INT for a TD on the season, and the 5th in his fine career. The latter statistic ties an all-time 11 man football state record. Pedersen shone as brightly, recording 8.5 tackles and helping gobble up would be ball handlers. Wyatt Goodale recorded a receiving TD and a fumble return for a TD. Gavin Hierseman passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another. His streak of games with two TD passes in a game has now reached five.

QUOTABLE: "I feel this team is just beginning to hit a stride. We are getting healthy for the first time this season." - Coach Pedersen
